Lionella Scazzosi - CV (2007)

    Architect,  PhD in "Preservation of the Historic Heritage" , Associate Professor at the Polytechnic of Milan.She teaches "Architectural Restoration" , “Preservation and management of the landscape", "Preservation and maintenance of historic gardens". Teacher in several courses, PhD and masters in Italy and abroad centred on “Landscape  preservation and management” and “Historic gardens preservation” for Public Administrations, Universities, Schools.
    Since 1998 consultant for the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage for Italian landscape policies and rules.  Since 2002 permanent Italian representative at the "Council of Europe” and since 2005 expert of the Council of Europe, for the application of the Landscape European Convention (ELC, Florence 2000). Since 2006  member of the International Committee for “Historic Gardens and Landscapes” IFLA  (International Federation of Landscape Architects).
    The research activity concerns: the preservation, maintenance and enhancement of the historical heritage (historic centres, gardens, landscape) involving both the theoretical-methodological and cognitive-operational aspects; the garden and landscape history; the museology (diffused museum, open-air museums); the landscape planning (nature parks, extra-urban areas).
    Scientific director of some national and international researches about gardens and landscape preservation. Scientific Director of  Pa.R.I.D. (Centre of Research and International Documentation for Landscape) Milan Polytechnic.
    Since 2001 scientific promoter of biannual International Conferences about the history and the preservation of historic gardens and landscapes of the “Centre for Historical Documentation- Cinisello Balsamo”.
    She has carried out: historic gardens restoration (Botanical Garden of Brera – Milan;  renaissance gardens of Vertemate-Franchi Palace in Piuro); historic gardens inventories; landscape preservation; archeological parks (Orvieto, Volterra); .
    Author of many essays and books. Among them: Natura e architettura, 1987; Il giardino e il tempo, 1992; Il giardino opera aperta. La conservazione delle architetture vegetali, 1993; Manuale per la tutela e la conservazione delle architetture vegetali storiche, 1996; Politiche e culture del paesaggio.
